autumn wishlist

Summer is almost over and with it go sunglasses, swimwear and numerous trends. However, all is not lost with autumn rolling its way round the corner in a gust of leaves and midi skirts. With autumn comes a fresh start. September sparks a new academic year and in schools where uniform is not permitted numerous teens are left to decide what back to school outfit will best fit their new image and/or personality/attitude. If your new school year's resolution (or if you're not at school then just use this time of year for a fresh start) is to be even more stylish than I am sure you already are then keep reading this series of autumn wish list posts. I have collected style tips and trends from numerous magazines and added my own take on them so that I can bring you the ultimate Autumn Wish list.
DENIM. Denim is an autumn essential and a pair of fitted skinny jeans are essential to create a smarter look however, they can be reworked in many, many ways to create numerous looks: from preppy to goth and all the glorious styles in between. Go for a preppy look and pair some fitted jeans with a blazer and leather boots for a look like that of Karlie Kloss. Or for a similar look to Freja Beha Erichsen pair darker denim skinny jeans with a black leather biker jacket and matching ankle boots: punk perfection. To unleash your creativity and really broadcast your style denim flares are essential. Pair them with an animal print coat, over sized handbag and over sized sunnies for an elegant, retro look. This look is stylish in a whopping three different ways so regardless of who you look up to for style you will probably want to invest in some flares as this is a catwalk trend (Just Cavalli, Ports 1961), high street trend (Primark, Topshop), and a celeb trend (Kate Moss, Olivia Palermo.) To knock the androgynous trend on the head opt for an over sized denim jacket like Alexa Chung. An alternative is a denim shirt. From one end of the trend spectrum to the other, a denim skirt over leggings or tights says girly but with an edge. Emma Roberts is a fan of this style. There are hundreds of styles of denim and different ways to work them. I would recommend investing in a versatile fitted pair and then heading to Primark to try out all the other styles that are available.
